Anger a type of violence

Violence is not only killing or beating others but it is hurting others with words and action.

One must not forget, if anger is fire it not only burns the one who is angry it burns the one who is victim of anger.

In anger many a times we would have used bad language for others. Many a times if others would not have accepted our sway (prabhuta) we would have used bad words. It is violence, it burns the speaker’s good thoughts and even burns the happiness of the listener.

Many a times we would have been angry for people driving vaguely and we would have cursed them or we shout on them. It is violence. Similarly cursing chef for food, is a violence.

If we are in meeting and someone comes to us with a request for help in job and if we use ill words, we are doing violence. Knowingly and unknowingly we do such violence every day.

One should try and avoid such violence. The effect of such violence could not be seen on body but could be felt on thoughts. This violence burns the harmony and peace in the atmosphere and a natural goodness of soul.

Anger

Few thoughts on Anger

People tell me I am aggressive. I dont deny the fact that I am aggressive and I work to control it. In this process of learning to control anger, I came across few things which I would like to share.

A person gets angry when he is not able to do things as per his wish. A person gets angry when he is wrong and dont want to admit. A person gets angry when others dont obey him. A person will get angry when the person whom he love is insulted or hurt by others.

So, one form of anger is that of Ravan, another form is that of Lakshman. A form of anger is that of Dronacharya and another form of anger is of Kaikey

If we look carefully Ravan use to get angry when people dont obey him. He got angry when he was not able to marry Sita. He got angry when his sister Surpanakha’s husband refrained from following his thoughts and views. This anger of his was the result of the thought, “Whatever I do, I am doing everything fair and legal.”, “I am the best”, “I am the supreme power and all should follow him.” The powers he had accquired which he was not able to control gave birth to ego and all these thoughts of his. And this ego and thoughts gave birth to anger. Such anger is harmful to the society as well as to the person who is the victim of such anger.

Lakshman was also termed aggressive. He got angry when Kaikey exciled Ram. He got angry when Surpanakha proposed for marriage. He got angry when Sugriv forgot everything after the death of his brother. This anger of his was the result of his passionate love for Ram. He was not able to tolerate any misbehavior of others towards Ram and Sita. In his anger there was a feeling of mother or guardian who always wants to protect loved ones. He use to burn his heart for them whom he loved more than himself. This anger is somewhere like a burning lamp, if you blow from wrong side it will burn you.

Dronacharya was best teacher and he wished his student to be the world’s best in archery. When he came to know Eklavya have the capability of being the world’s best he got angry, he asked for thumb as fees. This anger of his was the result of situations which he never thought of and never wish to come up. The thought is like a child who think that he will get whatever he dream and world will work as per his thoughts.

Many people get angry when they are shown mirror and asked to note their mistakes. Such anger also comes from ego and the thought “I am the best”.

Of all these forms of anger, the best anger according to me is that of Lakshman. Though anger in any form is not good, but if something good have to be found from all this, then it is the anger of Lakshman. Lakshman was devotee from heart and soul, his act and his thoughts were centered around Ram and Sita. So whenever anger comes out of feelings towards loved ones, one can be saved from the evils of anger.

Beaware of Lust Infatuation and Wrath

There is no disease (so destructive) as lust; no enemy like infatuation; no fire like wrath; and no happiness like spiritual knowledge

I was reading a script and came across the above stated quote. All most every one knows about this but still many of us are slaves of these three things.

It is truly said that Lust is a disease. Disease of mind which kills soul and happiness. While creating life God had placed a system in every life to reproduce life. And to generate interest in reproduction or encourage life for reproduction  God have kept an attraction between lives. This attraction gives birth to desire and with the good efforts of good thoughts life gets regenerated. But if one forgets to control the horse of desire and attraction, he finds himself lost in the desert of Lust. There is an industry which is like desert where people come in search of happiness and or love but get lost in the winds of desert. 100 bottles of liquor may not damage you much but Lust will damage your thought and soul within a very short time period. It is like a paralysis of thought.

Another thing that harms your good thinking and stops your mind from thinking big is Infatuation. Infatuation is a feeling. Many have told me that they are in love but when i ask them the reason or check their commitment then i see that they are infatuated and not in real love. Real love is commitment. It is divine and brings two soul together not only the two bodies together. Infatuation becomes your enemy when you get totally absorbed with the thought and get attracted to someone or something. You loose the sense of what is true and false and try to please the other in the best possible manner. In this you create a lot of enemies. An infatuated person loses himself. And when you are not in you, you are like a dead body. You loose sense of what is good and what is bad.

Anger or Wrath is worst, yes, it burns not only your soul but others mood and happiness. A spark of anger is enough to burn you in full and others. Anger is chronic in itself. It starts with a small spark and encourages itself to grow. It then burns your energy and happiness within you. This fire cant be seen with eyes but could be felt. This fire is like a fire in forest, it catches others soon and the more it catch holds of others it becomes furious.

The only thing that can help one go stay away from all these things is Spiritual Knowledge and Wisdom. Making a habit to read at-least one word of such scripts can help you cultivate your mind and thoughts. With such mind you will be able to keep away from such evils.
